Even though Enid is the height of a ten year old, she's still very much a seven year old LITTLE girl. She still loves pretending and playing with dolls and her stuffed animals, so when I was deciding what was best for her room, I knew I wanted it to be a place where she could enjoy being the little girl that she is. This meant listening to her. I really wanted to put two twin beds in her room, but the more she and I talked, the more I realized it was important to her to have playthings in her room. She wanted a play kitchen, something that definitely would not have been possible with two beds. Not to mention, this duvet cover and pillow case have been sold out for months (complete heartbreak for me), so it was a pretty easy decision to proceed with a single bed and plans for a play kitchen!
The wallpaper trend has tempted me, but I have been a little too insecure to put up permanent paper, so this Chasing Paper temporary wallpaper is good for those of use who tend to be indecisive or often change our minds.
I love this natural fiber rug from Rugs USA. It gave the room a needed warmth and coziness, and it's so much softer than most natural fiber rugs I've come across! I was also super pumped to find this clip-on mid-century vintage lamp on Etsy. I like to throw in some modern pieces here and there, and Enid seemed to enjoy the little touch of pink.
It's no secret I love a good check and ticking stripe, so when I found these window panels from Country Curtains, I knew I had to have 'em! And another vintage Etsy lamp for the win!
This piece of furniture was actually left in our house by the previous home owner. Like I said before, it was my vote to throw it out and bring in a second bed, but when Enid expressed her desire for a play kitchen, I figured why not! She'll only enjoy a play kitchen for a short period of her life, so a play kitchen she will have!
She prepared lunch ;)
Because Enid isn't the strongest of readers, I wanted to create a little corner that would possibly invite and encourage her to sit and read. Of course, nothing is more inviting to a kid than a beanbag! This one is from Land of Nod. And this string of lights from Bright Lab Lights are the best! All of my other kids now want a strand in their rooms. In fact, Silas now hangs out in Enid's room at night because the Bright Lab Lights "make it cozy".
